AT-KABUL: As many as 24 women graduated from ‘peace through business’ training program conducted by Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) in collaboration with Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) in Kabul.

The deputy chairman of the ACCI, Khanjan Alkozai, told reporters that 24 women received 10-week training in the field of business. “They were taught how to develop business plans,” he added.

He said that the training program was aimed at empowering womenfolk. “Afghan women have made considerable progress over the past 13 years in various areas including business. We have many businesswomen in different parts of the country,” Alkozai added.

He said that the ACCI was committed to increase participation of Afghan women in the field of business.

Head of the IEEW, Manizha Wefaq, said that 15 of the 24 women will also visit the United States soon to further hone their business and leadership skills through more training. She hoped that the 15 women would share the knowledge they gain in the US with other Afghan women. “They will also participate in international economic summit in Dallas, Texas.

Participants of the business training termed the program as useful and urged the concerned organizations to hold more such trainings for womenfolk.
