35 Taliban fighters killed in Jalriz

AT-KABUL: At least 35 Taliban fighters were killed and 10 others wounded within the past two days during military operations by Afghan forces aimed at retaking Jalriz district in Maidan Wardak.

Afghan national security and defense forces have stormed militant strongholds in Jalriz district to push the Taliban back and retake control of the district, said a statement of the defense ministry.

Military crackdown was backed up by air forces and left 35 Taliban fighters killed and 10 others wounded. Meanwhile, army commandos have cleared Mullah Khil and Ziwlat area of the Taliban, noted statement.

Operation continues against enemy.

Enemy has planted mine in Jalriz road, so the army is engaged to clean the road in order to avoid civilian casualties, mentioned the statement.

Taliban massively staged assault on Jalriz district five days ago during night, where Afghan forces had retreated from the area in order to prevent civilian casualties.
