38 Daesh fighters killed in Nangarhar airstrikes

AT-KABUL: As many as 38 Daesh fighters were killed and 12 others wounded in separate airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province, said officials.

Deputy Spokesman for Ministry of Defense, Mohammad Radmanish, told Afghanistan Times that 23 Daesh fighters were killed and 12 others wounded in Nangarhar province in the past 24 hours.

He said that Afghan Air Force (AAF) pounded hideouts of the Middle Eastern terrorist group in eastern Nangarhar province. The airstrikes took place at a time when Daesh was planning to behead some people in the area.

He said that 11 Daesh fighters were killed and five others wounded in Kot district and 12 others were killed and seven injured in Achin district as result of the airstrikes carried out by the AAF.

Meanwhile, spokesman to the provincial police Hazrat Husain Mashreqiwal told Afghanistan Times that 15 Daesh fighters were killed in a drone strike carried out by the foreign forces in Pekhy area of Achin district in the province.

In the meantime, as result of clashes between the Taliban and Daesh militants, 13 Daesh and three Taliban fighters were killed in Chaparhar district of Nangarhar province, he added.

He said that 17 Taliban insurgents were also wounded in the clashes with Daesh.

Abrupt increase in Daesh activities in the eastern province had sparked serious concerns among people that led to public uprising. Tens of people took arms to fight the terrorist group. Recently, local uprising members beheaded five Daesh fighters and put their heads along the road in the province.
