4 civilians dead, 14 wounded in Khost market blast

AT-KABUL: At least four civilians have been killed and 14 other received injures in a blast in southeastern Khost province, official said.

The blast took place at 11:00am local time in the basement or underground of a ‘Cell-phone Market’ in the capital city of Khost province.

“As a result of bomb explosion, four civilians martyred and 14 others, all of them civilians, sustained injuries,” Mubariz Zadran, a Spokesman for the Provincial Governor told Afghanistan Times.

All the wounded were shifted to provincial hospital where they are under medical treatment.

According to doctors of the hospital, most of the injured are out of danger and they would be discharged after receiving first and required medical aid.

Moreover, a police official, who requested to be unidentified told Afghanistan times, a bomb was planted under a table in a shop, and exploded at a time when there was rush of civilians.

Till the end of the day, police has not taken any one into custody in connection to this terrorist incident. However, police already kicked of investigation into the matter.

On the other hand, any militant group has not yet taken responsibility for the incident.

Since the announcement of the new US strategy on Afghanistan, the militants of Pakistan-based terrorist outfits have started their movement in the province and planning huge terror attacks against the civilians and government personnel, Rizwan Khan, a local resident and civil society activist, told Afghanistan Times.

He urged the government and security organs to keep vigilant eye on terrorists in a bid to maintain peaceful life in the province.
