53 insurgents killed in raids

AT-KABUL: At least 53 militants were killed and 17 others were wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD)said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas Nangarhar, Nuristan, Kapisa, Paktia, Ghazni, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Herat, Badghis, Balkh, Faryab, Logar and Helmand province.

Statement said that in these operations 53 insurgents including a local commander were killed and 17 others were injured.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions by artilleries and air force

During these operations, 19 Taliban fighters including a Pakistani citizen were killed in Nawah district of Helmand, 11 insurgents including a local commander  were killed and nine other wounded in Bargmatal district of Nuristan, seven rebels were killed in Chora district of Uruzgan and three Al-Qaeda fighters were killed in Lalpor district of Nangarhar.

Similar five insurgents were killed and one another injured in Barki Barak district of Logar, four Taliban fighters were killed and five others wounded in Qarabagh district of Ghazni and four insurgents were killed and two other wounded in Maiwand district of Kandahar.

In past 24 hours, 15 planed clearing operations, 13 Special Forces operations conducted in 14 provinces; also, Air forces conducted 132 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 12 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
