72 dead in flash floods

AT-KABUL: At least 72 people have been killed due to heavy flash floods across the country during the past week, said disaster management authority on Sunday.

Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) in a statement said that as result of floods in Samangan, Takhar, Kapisa, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Badghis, Ghor, Panjshir, Sar-e-Pul, Ghazni, Parwan, Balkh and Herat province 72 people were martyred, nine wounded and two other were missing.

Statement said that 617 cattle were dead, 888 houses completely and 1695 houses partly destroyed in the mentioned provinces.

Statement said that 296 acres of agriculture land also destroyed.

ANDMA has stepped up to help flood affected people, where so far it provided food items to 898 families and non-food assistance to242 other families in different provinces, added statement.

Also ANDMA has granted cash to 21 flood affected families, noted statement.

Statement said that ANDMA will continue to its surveyand will remain committed to help flood affected families throughout the country, underlined statement.
