90 insurgents killed in raids

AT-KABUL: At least 90 Taliban insurgents were killed and 34 more wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns within past 24 hours.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Zabul, Farah, Balkh, Ghor, Badghis, Balkh, Faryab, Kunduz, Baghlan and Helmand provinces.

Statement said that in these operations 90 insurgents including three local commander of Taliban and four Daesh affiliates were killed and 34 others wounded.

Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, 26 Taliban fighters were killed and six others were wounded in Qara Bagh, Deh Yak districts and center of Ghazni, 25 insurgents were killed in Drenj area of Bala Blok district of Farah, nine militants were killed and 14 others wounded in Jani Khil district of Paktia, nine rebels were killed in Dolina and Shahrak districts of Ghor province.

Similar, eight terrorists were killed in Nadali and Garmsir district of Helmand, seven Taliban fighters including a local commander named Barialai were killed and 11 others wounded in Shahjoi district of Zabul, six insurgents including two local commanders named Qari Shakor, Qari Haleem were killed and two stronghold in Imam district of Kunduz, four Daesh fighters including a women were killed in Achin district of Nangarhar province.

In past 24 hours, 12 planed clearing operations, and 84 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted115 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 14 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.

ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
