Afghanistan wins against UAE in second warm-up

AT-KABUL: The national cricket team defeated United Arab Emirates (UAE) national team by 14 runs in the ICC World Cup Warm-up match on Friday.

Afghanistan elected to bat first by winning the toss and set a target of 309 runs for the UAE batsmen from 50 overs and by losing 9 wickets.

Despite losing the opening batsmen during the initial overs of the match but the middle order batsmen performed well with Samiulllah Shenwari scoring 58 runs, Mohammad Bai 30 runs and Najibullah Zadran 46 runs.

The UAE batsmen could not chase the given target and were all out during the 48 over of the match by scoring 294 runs.

On the bowling side Aftab Alam took three wickets, Mohammad Nabi two wickets, and Hamid Hassan, DAwlat Zadran, Mirwais Ashraf, and Javed Ahmadi one wicket each.

This was the last warm-up match the Afghan team participated ahead of the World Cup matches which is due to start on Saturday.

Afghanistan will face Bangladesh in their opening match in ICC World Cup on 18th February.
