Anger flares as fighting resumes

AT-KABUL: Former president Hamid Karzai has taken umbrage at resumption of fighting between government forces and Taliban militants, a few days after a historic ceasefire ended.

He extended sympathy with families of martyrs of recent terrorist attacks and asserted that the glorious ceasefire which was honored during the days of Eid had received a warm welcome. “Both armed forces, Taliban, and peoples hugged one another and celebrated that occasion.”

“That gratification was a testament to the fact that the ongoing war in the country is being imposed by outsiders to serve their cause,” he said.

“Afghan people lose their lives on both sides of the conflict.”

Karzai reiterated his call on Taliban to lay down their arms and join their brothers and sisters to resuscitate and re-build Afghanistan through peace, unity and national solidarity.
