Militants wanted to carry out terrorist attacks in these provinces. However, their subservice activities were foiled by security officials, the statement added.

Police also recovered rockets that the militants wanted to fire to deteriorate the security situation further during the attacks. Two landmines were also recovered in Maidan and Badghis provinces.

The ANP also recovered a 24kg bag of explosives in Parwan province and foiled the possible terrorist attack, the statement said.

Accelerating the speed of operations against insurgents, the security forces killed 38 Daesh fighters in Nangarhar the other day.

It added that the airstrikes hit hideouts of militants in Sulemankhel area of the district leaving 36 rebels loyal to Mullah Naeem and Habibzai dead. Two other fighters who wanted to escape the scene were also killed by security forces.
