Dostum’s son survives Taliban ambush 

AT-KABUL: The Taliban insurgents ambushed convey of Batur Dostum, the senior son of First Vice President, Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, while he was in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Samad Rahmani, the deputy to Sheberghan garrison confirmed that Batur Dostum’s convoy faced Taliban ambush Sunday night.  Batur Dostum could escape the ambush and is safe and sound.

“A Taliban group which was over 100 militants led by Mullah Jabbar, the shadow district governor in Mardian area of northern Jawzjan province, ambushed Dostum caravan at Chakosh area,” Rahmani added.

Two Taliban fighters were killed and some ammunition seized by Dostum’s bodyguards, according to him. This is the first assassination attempt on Batur Dostum.
