Dozens killed as Taliban clash with Daesh in Nangarhar

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Dozens have been killed and injured as clashes between the Taliban and Daesh erupted in eastern Nangarhar province, said an official.

The provincial governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khugyani told Pajhwok Afghan News that the clashes between the two terrorist groups erupted the other day at around 6:00am in Mano Dag, Sangina, Garatak and Sulimankhel areas of the Chaparhar district.

He said the clashes were over at about 12:00pm in which 15 fighters were killed and 36 wounded from both sides. He said among the dead 11 were Taliban and four others belonged to Daesh. “Out of the 36 wounded, 11 of them belong to Daesh and 25 others were members of Taliban militant group,” he said. In addition two civilians were slightly injured and were shifted to the civil hospital in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.

Meanwhile, a local resident said that the two groups used heavy and light weapons during the clashes and endangered the lives of the local residents.

Hundreds of fighters from the two sides have been killed and wounded during the clashes his year.
