Editorial: What a brutality

How worse it is to learn that children since longtime have been trained to fight and plant Improvised Explosives Device (IED) by Taliban insurgents—a group claiming to be adherent of Islam. Deadly attack such as carrying suicides is the most awful and forbidden act. Islam teaches us love, friendship, honesty, and other plenty of good things, not massacring of civilians, including children and women. Last year Human Rights Watch reported that Taliban forces have added scores of children to their ranks since mid-2015 in violation of the international prohibition on the use of child soldiers. It was also reported that Taliban have been training and deploying children for various military operations, including the production and planting of IED. It was also said that Taliban increasingly used Madrasas and religious schools to provide military training to children between the ages of 13 and 17, many of whom have been deployed in combat. However, this unlawful act of the Taliban insurgents still on progress as Saifur Rahman Niazai, Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) head for Paktia, showed concern over using Afghan children by the Taliban in battlefield against Afghan security forces in southeastern Paktia province, calling for end. “Presence of children and youth in rebel’s ranks is concerning and against national and international laws,” he said, adding: “We are concerned about safety of common people in the conflict and for his purposes we hold regular meetings with security institutions and ask militant groups to make sure people’s lives and properties are not harmed.” Throwing children into battlefield is as cynical and cruel as it is unlawful. Afghan children should be at school and at home with their parents, not exploited as cannon fodder for the Taliban insurgency. The government has to fallow this seriously. This heart-wrenching practice must be ended fully. They (children) are our next generation. If children go to school and pursue their higher education, they could steer the country toward more peace and stability. This situation is very dangerous, and at the same time very fatal. It is clear as daylight that Taliban insurgents are dancing at tones of their foreign masters. They (Taliban) even don’t have independency of thinking. For sake of argument if we agree that they are free to think, but recruiting of children to fight security forces is clearly indicated that they are going through mere-independency—nodding for what their master says. As a whole, the brutality of the Taliban insurgents had been reached at boiling point. Killing of civilians in front of their female and children family members, and also by other acts of violence, Taliban unlashed their real face of terror and sadism.
