AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Finance Minister, Eklil Hakimi will pay a visit to Islamabad next week to attend the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting between Afghanistan and Pakistan, media reported on Tuesday.
Hakimi would participate in the upcoming JEC meeting in Islamabad and push for the implementation of the decisions taken during last year’s visit of President Ashraf Ghani to Pakistan, Pakistani media reported.
Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar in a meeting with President Ghani at that time promised to resolve all problems, including the release of Afghan transit goods, source added.
The Pak-Afghan JEC was postponed in August, following a spectacular spike in Taliban’ attack in Kabul.
Afghan officials triggered the gun of criticism toward Pakistan and blamed Islamabad for failing to do enough to eliminate insurgency in the region. Moreover the Afghan officials refused to participate in the 10th JEC meeting slated for August 24 and 25.
Hekmat Khalil Karzai, Deputy Foreign Minister also informed the other day that Finance Minister Hakimi would take part in upcoming JEC meeting in Islamabad and will call for implementation of decision that were taken during President Ghani’s visit to Pakistan.
