Five border police killed in Kunar

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Five border police officers were killed in a clash with insurgents in the Marawari district of eastern Kunar province, an official said on Sunday.

Jummah Gul Hemat, provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the fierce clash took place in the Ghash Pas area on Saturday.

He said, insurgents suffered a number of casualties during the clash but there was no exact information about the number of dead and wounded.

Dead bodies of police officers were evacuated by the Red Crescent Society (RCS) to the district centre and later on they were transferred to their families, added Hemat.

A security man who wished to be unidentified said militants targeted boarder policemen when they came to the stream to take drinking water. Five police personnel killed in the militant’s ambush, he added.
