Five TAPI employees gunned down in Kandahar

AT-KABUL: Unknown armed men attacked and killed five workers of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project in southern Kandahar today morning, said officials.

Unknown gun men attacked and killed five TAPI workers and deminer in Maiwand district of Kandahar today at around 10:00am today, said Kandahar Police Spokesman Zia-U-RahmanDurani.

He said that also the gunmen took a worker with their self.

As the TAPI was a national project, so they believed that the worker of the project don’t need to security guards, he mentioned.

He said that they were on work while attacked by armed men and killed in Maiwand district.

He said that all killed and kidnapped workers were Afghan.

Till now no clue about the kidnapped worker, but police started search operation to find and release the abducted employee, he added.

So far no armed group claimed responsibility for the incident.
