Kunduz offensive; 9 militants killed, 5 arrested

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Nine Taliban insurgents have been killed and five others detained during an overnight air and ground operation in Chahar Dara district of northern Kunduz province, an official said on Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Sayed Qurban Musawi, 209 Shaheen Military Corps official, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the air and ground operation was carried out in Sajani area of the district late on Monday night.

Two foreign national are among killed insurgents, he said, adding that five other insurgents were captured alive in the offensive. “Taliban’s three hideouts and a number of weapons and ammunition were also destroyed.”

However, the Taliban insurgent rejected, claiming security forces raided civilian houses in the area last night. The group’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid claimed one civilian received injures and several other detained by security forces.
