At least 14 civilians killed in Kunduz airstrike

KABUL-AT: At least 14 civilians including women and children were killed and one was injured Thursday morning after a house was hit by an alleged Afghan airstrike in Chahardarah district of northern Kunduz province.

Niamatullah Timori, a spokesman for Kunduz governor office confirmed the air strike targeted a house and killed 14 civilians, while one person was injured.

He said governor has sent investigation team to the area and the security officials are instructed to help those injured in the “unfortunate incident.”

An army spokesman in northern Afghanistan said the airstrike was directed at an area from where militants were targeting a patrolling group of the Afghan security forces in the district.

Haneef Rezay said at least 14 Taliban were killed in the attack.

Kunduz has been one of the insecure provinces of the country which two times felled to the Taliban hands in the past few years.

Taliban are active in most remote parts of this province which is on border with Tajikistan.
