On advent of Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha, also called the “Sacrifice Feast” is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year. The celebrations kick off after the descent of the Hujjaj, the pilgrims performing the Hajj, from Mount Arafat, a hill east of Mecca. In commemoration of this, an animal is sacrificed and divides into three parts: the family retains one third of the share: another third is given to relative, friends and neighbors, and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy. The festivities carried out on this day include a ritual sacrifice of the sheep, camel, or goat, an action mean to commemorate the trials of Prophet Abraham (AS). The core reason behind this, is too obedient the command of Allah the Almighty, and also to help poor people. In Afghanistan, we celebrate Eid widely and there is three days national holiday. An official holiday in all Muslim-majority countries would be announced. During Eid Days, despite animal sacrifices, Muslim looks happy and goes to meet relatives and friends to greet them Happy Eid Days, as well as to host them in his/her house. However, people in Afghanistan celebrate this day at a time when security situation is deteriorating day to day. Today (Tuesday) five Afghan masses killed and nine others received injures in a suicide attack in Kabul, the capital city. These people killed and wounded just few days before Eid. Moreover, 13 people have been killed and seven others wounded in an airstrike carried out in western Herat province. These people killed today (Tuesday), not talking about other days. During past 16 years, the Afghan masses either killed or wounded in different attacks on daily basis. But, despite all these miseries, the Afghan people have been celebrating Eid days extensively. Moreover, the sky-rocketing of essential stuff is another problem noting the rate of unemployment and poverty. Going to market is not possible without having at least 10,000 Afghani just to buy some cookies and dry fruits, leaving aside purchasing of sacrifices animal as it is too expensive. Still there is time and the related officials can do much more to control the market. On this precious days, we, the Afghan masses thanking the security forces for providing security to the country. We never forget sacrifices made by brave Afghan security forces in bringing durable peace and stability to the war-hit country. We are proud of our brave and compatriots Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF). It is crystal clear that instability and war in Afghanistan is the interest of others, but only victimized Afghans. May this Eid al-Adha bring peace and stability in Afghanistan, and lead to a long-lasting prosperity.
