‘Pakistani paramilitary troops among Taliban fighting in Paktia’

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A swarm of militants stormed checkpoints of Afghan border police in Dand-e-Pathan district of southeastern Paktia province, said a security official.

A commander of border police in Paktia province, Abdul Basir Khpalwak, said the skirmish broke out at 4:30 am on Monday and is still going on. He said that Pakistani paramilitary troops, locally known as militia, are also among the Taliban militants fighting against the Afghan security forces. He said that the fighting is still ongoing.

He added that they have sent back up support to the district.

“We had pervious information that around 500 militants are preparing to attack checkpoints of Afghan security forces in the province; thus, our security forces have all the preparations to retaliate to attacks,” he added.

He said that according to their information Pakistani paramilitary troops are also among the Taliban militants fighting against the Afghan security forces.

The Taliban in a statement emailed to media said that they have attacked seven checkpoints of Afghan forces in Dand-e-Patan district. The militant group claimed to have killed and injured 11 Afghan troops.
