Parliamentary election to be held next year

AT Monitoring Desk: KABUL: Second Vice-President Sarwar Danish said Wednesday that the parliamentary election may be postponed for one year, due to some reasons.

He told lawmakers that parliamentary polls will be held after brining reforms in electoral bodies.

He said the government is hopeful that a transparent parliament election is conducted next year by incorporating reforms in the electoral system.

Danish said a committee has been formed and is currently working to bring changes in the system.

The remarks by Danish come as the lawmakers’ term is due to expire in mid-June and the newly elected lawmakers should step in their shoes few weeks after their term ends.

This comes as the presidential election was marred by massive fraud allegations last year which led to formation of the national unity government.
