Police recover arms, explosives in Paktika

AT-KABUL: Security forces conducted an operation and recovered seven caches of arms and explosives in Paktika province.

Local officials said that security forces conducted the clearance operation in Zadran valley and Jabar village of Orgun district on Friday.

“The operation was launched by operatives of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) and Afghan army soldiers,” Zamir Khpalwak, a senior official in the province told Mashaal Radio.

He said that the seized weapons included heavy and light weapons, talkie walkies and uniforms of Afghan national police.

He believed that recovering the caches would help security forces subdue militants in the province.

Raz Muhammad Kharoti, Urgon district chief, said the weapons and explosives included 500 kilograms of aluminium nitrate, 42 various kinds of landmines, 35 batteries being used in bombs, eight improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other row materials used in bombs as well as uniforms of Afghan police and army. Afghan forces have suffered no casualties in the operation.
