Release of suspects unwelcomed: Wolesi Jirga Speaker

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The speaker for the Wolesi Jirga on Monday expressed objection over the release of five suspect persons who made attempt to get entry into the parliament building, calling on the security organs to recapture the individuals for further inquiry.

Mirdad Najrabi, head of the Wolesi Jirga internal security commission disclosed a week back that a number of suspected individuals, probably militants were detained by security personnel when they were trying to enter the parliament building.

“Since their arrest, Meshrano Jirga Chairman, Fazal Hadi Muslimyar had repeatedly contacted security forces in a bid to release the suspects without determining the motive behind their attempt to be entered into the parliament,” he said.

Moreover, He said the suspects wished to enter the parliament building on pretext of meeting MP Hazrat Ali, who denied any connection with suspects and asked to keep them in detention.

However, Muslimyar told the upper house’s session on Sunday the allegations leveled against him having no valid reason and base. He called on the administrative board of the Wolesi Jirga to not allow MPs to conjecture about their colleagues.

Speaking in the Wolesi Jirga session, Hazrat Ali said he had no personal enmity with the Meshrano Jirga chairman, but releasing the suspects is an issue of concern which should be investigated.

“It should be made public as to who guaranteed the release of these men, what was the motive behind their attempt to enter the parliament building and why they used my name,” he said.

He asked the administrative board of the lower house to investigate the issue in a free and fair way which is a matter of security of all parliamentarians.

Speaker Abdur Rauf Ibrahimi said: “The release of the suspects is unacceptable to us. The National Directorate of Security (NDS) should explain it to us why these men were freed.”

He asked the internal security commission of the Wolesi Jirga to summon the NDS chief in order to provide relevant information about the issue. “The suspects should be recaptured as soon as possible; they should be investigated,” he ruled.
