Security to improve after Hekmatyar’s arrival: Dostum

AT-KABUL: The First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum has said that presence of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the Leader of Hezb-e-Islami, in Kabul, would import positive impacts on the current security situations across the country.

Gen. Dostum said it during a meeting with the top officials of Hezb-e-Islami, including Hekmatyar’s son Habib-ur-Rehman Hekmatyar in Kabul.

He added that Hekmatyar’s presence in Kabul would also help to boost the morale of Afghan security forces in fight against insurgency.

The delegation of Hezb-e-Islami also composed of Juma Khan Hamdard, Humayoun Jarir and some other key leaders of the party.

The two sides shared views on the ongoing security situation of the country, significantly focusing on security situation in northern regions of the country.

According to the Office of the First Vice President, during the meeting, the two sides shaded light over national unity and partnership, security and stability of the country and implementation of peace deal between the Afghan government and Hezb-e-Islami.

The First Vice President was briefed regarding the necessary preparations to welcome Hekmatyar in Kabul.

In his turn, Habib-ur-Rehman, said the recent reports regarding the deteriorating health condition of Hekmatyar are not accurate and preparations are in progress for his return to Kabul.
