Some President’s aides don’t believe in fair elections: ESRC

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Criticizing some people close to the President and Chief Executive, the deputy of Electoral System of Reform Commission (ESRC) said that unfortunately the close aides didn’t believe in democracy, elections, justice and equality.

Sediqullah Tawhedi told Bokhdi News Agency that these people are interfering to made obstacles ahead of holding election in a transparent way. Without mentioning any names, he said that these people are encroaching on selection committee of electoral commissioners, adding that they have heavy presence in the Presidential Palace and the Chief Executive Office.

He said that these people after submission of the first proposal of electoral reforms commission to the president started work to sabotage efforts of the selection committee, which caused at least two months of delay in formation to resume the office.

He also emphasized that if these elements continued hatching conspiracies then there would be no hope for having a transparent election in the future in the country.

He warned that if the current electoral system does not change, in upcoming elections the amount of fraud will not be reduced as the current system is fraudulent.

In addition he said that in the proposed electoral system, political parties, and coalitions of political parties, independent and individual candidates can compete in one constituency at the same time.
