AT-KABUL: Tribal elders from Surkhrod district of Nangarhar province called on the former president Hamid Karzai the other day and shared their views on the national issues.
Hamid Karzai’s media office in a media statement said that the ex-president and the participants discussed current political and security situation. On behalf of the tribal elders, Lal Agha Kakar commended the former president for his achievements in the past 13 years.
The elders also asked Karzai to direct his foundation to provide scholarships to the youth of Surkhrod district.
Welcoming the elders, Hamid Karzai said that achievements made in the past decade was result of the hard work of public and belonged to the nation.
Karzai said that secret of Afghanistan’s development and prosperity lies in national unity.
He asked the local elders to pay more attention to education of their children. He vowed to support the elders in educating their children.
They also discussed Afghan-Pak relations and shared their views.
