Taliban bomber killed 12 security forces in Kandahar

AT-KABUL: A Taliban suicide bomber, driving an explosive laden Humvee, have targeted Afghan security forces outside the compound of Marouf district of Kandahar, in which 12 security forces were killed.

Kandahar Police Spokesman, Zia Durani, told Afghanistan Times the explosion took place in first entrance of the district compound at around 7:00pm in which, 12 security forces were “martyred” and four were injured.

He said members of the Afghan National Police, Border police and members of the National Directorate of Security were among the victims.

Taliban claimed after the bombing their fighters have captured the district compound, but Durani rejected the claim and said the district is under control of the security forces and the situation is “back normal.”

Kandahar is one of the secure provinces in southern Afghanistan but Taliban using the neighboring insecure provinces of Helmand, Uruzgan and Zabul to attack the remote parts of the province.
