US hostage in critical health condition

AT-KABUL: Taliban militants warned that one of the American lecturers being held by them was in critical health condition.

“Out of two hostages one of them (Kevin King) the American University of Afghanistan instructor‘s health condition is in critical condition,” said Taliban in a statement send by the group spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.

Statement said that the American instructor Kevin King, who abducted over one year ago with his colleague from Kabul suffering from kidney sickness and heart disease.

Statement said that the Taliban have struggled much time to time treatment for the patient hostage, but due to conflict condition don’t have access to better health facilities, thus failed to treat the American instructor completely.

The American instructor become more critical, now his feet’s swelling and also some time become unconscious, added statement.

Although USA has no concern over live and dead of its citizen, but we (Taliban) warn them to accept Islamic emirates demand and rescue their two citizens, mentioned statement.

If the USA again postponed the demand and Kevin King died of his sickness, then Islamic Emirates is not responsible because USA itself not concern for releasing of its citizens.

Meanwhile a statement released by the American University of Afghanistan said that the American University of Afghanistan Board of Trustees, students, staff and faculty are deeply saddened and disturbed to receive the news about the deteriorating health condition of Kevin King through a statement released by the Taliban. Kevin King and his colleague Tim Weeks are AUAF professors and were abducted by the Taliban in August 2016.  Mr. King and Mr. Weeks have been in captivity for more than a year, away from their loved ones.

They are innocent victims of a criminal abduction. They came to Afghanistan to teach Afghan youth and contribute to building a peaceful Afghanistan. They have done no harm to anyone.  We strongly urge the Taliban immediately to release Mr. King and Mr. Weeks unharmed.

Kevin, we are immensely sad to hear about your health situation. Please know that you and Tim remain in our thoughts and prayers. We will not stop trying to work for your release. We urge your kidnappers to release you at once.
